K-9 MD Inc. was founded in 2018 by a couple, bonded by a strong love for dogs.
Being the parents of 4 rottweilers, medical issues of various types/degrees seemed to crop up almost monthly. Issues ranging from minor annoyances such as hot-spots and conjunctivitis to invasive procedures such as ear hematomas and TPLO surgery.
That's where the K-9 MD Inc. story starts.
K-9 MD Inc. is driven by the simple goal of effectively and humanely helping vets and owners with their dogs recovery from injury or surgery. Our core products, the K-9 Kuffs® and K-9 Kompress™ are dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of dogs and their owners.

The K-9 Kuffs® suit was created to humanely and efficiently replace the e-collar (the 'cone') and other post-trauma/surgery recovery devices. The K-9 Kuffs® suit prevents licking, chewing & scratching at surgical sutures, hot spots, ear infections & other irritations.
Beyond the problems associated with a dog clumsily moving around our homes with a 'lampshade' on their head, traditional recovery devices can cause unintended side effects that can either exacerbate current injuries or even cause new issues.
The design of the K-9 Kuffs® suit allows your dog total freedom of movement. The suit works by mechanically restricting the hunching and twisting that permits your dog to reach affected areas. Achieving this, crucially, without impeding vital senses such as vision, smelling and hearing, which can cause further stress and/or potential injury. (See our video below for a demonstration.)
As it is rare for puppies to require the use of recovery devices, we recommended purchasing your dog's K-9 Kuffs® suit just before your dog is about to be spayed or neutered. Generally, that is when dog's stop significantly growing. You and your dog would then be able to use the suit for the rest of the dog's life while recovering from common ailments such as hot spots and ear infections to surgeries and other medical procedures.
Important! - It is particularly important to NOT leave your dog unattended in unusually warm environments while they are wearing the K-9 Kuffs® suit. Excessively warm environments that you would not normally leave your dog, such as alone in a car, outside in direct sunlight, etc. can quicken the effect heat would normally have.
Please note, because of the balance between maximizing the comfort of your dog and making sure that complete coverage is achieved, the K-9 Kuffs® suit focuses on the protection of the most commonly affected areas of injury/trauma that a dog will typically experience in its life. Therefore, in an effort to minimize the suit's obtrusiveness to your dog and making the suit unnecessarily cumbersome, the K-9 Kuffs® suit DOES NOT protect the dog's front forearms and front paws. If your dog needs a recovery device specifically for this area, we will soon be introducing a new product that specifically covers the forearms and front paws.
The K-9 Kompress™ suit was created initially as a solution to keep post-trauma bandages in place and protected, while also providing for easy access for changing dressings.
When used for this purpose the suit is also effective at keeping in place/protecting external devices and aids such as drainage tubes, elastic wraps, doggie diapers, ice packs, etc.
However, the K-9 Kompress™ also works much like compression suits for humans. The K-9 Kompress™ maps the musculature of your dog's body and complements/supports its natural movement. The benefits include increased blood and lymphatic flow to reduced swelling through gentle pressure, helping the injured area heal better and thus shorten recovery time. The K-9 Kompress™ also offers all the advantages of a body-hugging fit. Offering extra support around key muscles, joints and ligaments for issues such as hip dysplasia, arthritis and inflamation, without limiting mobility. (See our video below for a demonstration.)

The K-9 Kompress™ can be used for other applications as well. Protecting dogs from environmental conditions when walking/outdoors such as dirt from slush and mud as well as insects like tics and flea's, etc.
The K-9 Kompress™ is made from Tactel® nylon. A strong, lightweight and durable material with enhanced breathability which is also infused with an antimicrobial finish that resists bacteria and is machine washable.
Sewn together with anti-chafe seaming for comfortable wear, the K-9 Kompress™ can be worn all day, every day while your dog recovers.

Please use the following information as a guide to correctly choose the size of K-9 Kuffs® and/or K-9 Kompress™ suit that best fits your dog.
Please note that it is not necessary for the K-9 Kuffs® suit to fit 'tight' to be effective. In fact, the K-9 Kuffs® suit is intentionally designed to fit comfortably, to not restrict your dogs normal movements unnecessarily. As long as your dog fits within the parameters of each size, the suit will be just as effective and comfortable for both female and male dogs.
To find the best size for your dog, we suggest starting with the first measurement 1. (Neck to Tail). If you find, for example, your dogs measurement is 22", then proceed to the second and third measurements 2. (Neck) and 3. (Chest) to determine your dogs size.
If your dogs measurements are below the 17" max. for the 2. (Neck) and below the 29" max. for the chest, then Small is the correct size suit for your dog.
The 4. (Upper Arm) and 5. (Upper Hind) measurements can be used to confirm the size.

Thank you so much for this product. I couldn’t believe how well the suit keeps Ginger's bandages in place! I wish I had the suit for her first TPLO surgery! Also, he just looks so adorible in it. I put it on when we go on walks after the rain to keep the mud off. This suit is ver-si-tile!
Because Max's neck is bigger than his head, the cone is not an option for us. It literally just slips off his head. A friend suggested the K-9 Kuffs suit to us after Max got stitches for a small puncture wound. It made all three of our lives easier. Max didn't even try to go for his stitches after that. It was incredible!
Following surgery that required a drainage tube, a client told me she had used the K-9 Kompress suit. She said the suit not only protected the drainage tube from being disturbed, it promoted quicker healing time by putting gentle, consistent pressure on the area being drained. I was very impressed!
Tesla's had a wound closed on his back leg using tension sutures. I had to take two days off work to watch Tesla, so he wouldn't use his cone to scratch at the stiches and reopen the wound. I had to get back to work. I found the K-9 Kuffs in a desparate google search. The suit made it impossible for him to reach his wound. It was like a miracle!
We originally bought the Kompress suit for Sammy’s neutering. Then Sammy broke out in hot spots this spring and we used the Kompress suit to keep the bandages in place. This suit helps with so many other issues. Great product!
Lawrence is a big, loving, 120lbs., teddy bear/rottweiler. He gets chronic ear infections and seasonal hot spots and used to wear the cone a lot. We were all miserable then! He would mope around and knock into stuff around the house, including us! That's all changed with the K-9 Kuffs suit. We're all happier now.
